This post could have easily been about Ace’s death in One Piece, but I think I’ve mentioned that scene a bit too much on this blog. So instead, I decided to choose a scene from the same anime that has nothing to do with death at all. In fact, it’s one of those moments that would normally be a throw away scene for most folks given that it really had no bearing on the plot. What scene could I possibly be talking about?
It’s rare that anything, anime related or not, causes my jaw to figuratively hit the ground. But the moment when Elizabello II unleashed this massive right hook on all the unsuspecting fighters in the coliseum…well…let’s just say there’s still an impressive dent in my bedroom floor right now.
Just think back to the moments that led up to him releasing this beast of an attack. The guy was literally just standing in place shadow boxing while dozens upon dozens of fighters were getting the ever-loving crap beaten out of them. And one by one all of his protectors were KOed like the pieces on of a chessboard. Elizabello was now all alone and at the mercy of those vicious, blood thirsty warriors. And then:
Talk about never judging a book by its cover. The entire time they had us thinking this guy was nothing but a figurehead king. Just some derpy derp poser that had no combat experience and was just there to maybe get in a cheap shot and take all the glory for himself. Never did I think he was going to just pwn everybody in one, foul swoop with such an epic punch.
My only complaint is the stupid hour-long warm-up that’s needed to do the darn thing. That’s worse than the first time Piccolo whipped out the Special Beam Cannon in DBZ. Why do these ultimate attacks always have such a stupid time limit to them? Regardless, The King Punch will always have a place in my heart for being so friggin’ epic!!
