NEETaku’s 30 Day Anime Challenge Day 23: Favorite Anime Genre

*In my best Farnsworth impression.* GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE!! I’ve gotten my groove back!

When I embarked on this new challenge I did it primarily to get back into the groove of coming on here to write/read posts, the latter of which I’m still working on due to getting a new job. And while the creative juices had begun to simmer while I typed, it wasn’t until today’s prompt that they finally came to a boil! So, not only am I going to write about my favorite genre today, but I’m going to dedicate the majority of the next posts after this challenge to it!

What genre could do all of that for me, you ask?

Sports have been a big part of my life from literally the moment I was born. I was named after a football player for crying out loud, lol. I’ve watched them, played them and in one instance coached a team. My favorite two channels on the TV are ESPN and ESPN2! I’m obsessed with this stuff, people!! So, it only makes sense that my love for sports would mesh with love for anime. And I can honestly say that most of the best anime I’ve seen are from the sports genre.

DODGE! (Thank you anyone who got that reference xD)

Sports can teach us about a ton of things that are beneficial to the real world. It teaches discipline, teamwork, the value of working hard and overcoming adversity. Not saying other avenues can’t do the same, but I’ve yet to come across one that does as good a job as sports. It’s one thing to have a goal in your mind, but having it visibly in front of your makes it so much more enjoyable when you finally reach it. Scoring a touchdown. Hitting a game winning basket. Scoring the final goal in a shootout. Those moments are etched into our minds forever once achieved.

I could go on and on, but I want to save all of that for after this challenge is done. I’m NEETaku and that was Just…My 2 Cents!!
